Getting started: society voting checklist
Use this checklist to go from zero to your first completed vote on Plinth in under a day.
Before you start
- Confirm your society's bye-laws allow electronic voting (or get committee approval to pilot)
- Gather a CSV of all flats with owner name, email, and/or phone
- Identify one committee member to be the primary admin
Setup (day 1)
- Register the society on Plinth (get started)
- Import the owner roster via Admin → Members → Import
- Review import errors and fix bad contact rows
- Invite co-admins if needed (Admin → Settings)
Resident onboarding (days 1–7)
- Announce to residents: "Sign in with the email/phone we registered for your flat"
- Monitor the claim queue (Admin → Claims) for pending requests
- Approve or reject claims with notes
Your first poll
- Choose poll type and write a clear title and description
- Set participant groups, vote scope (per flat or per resident), and optional defaulter block
- Set quorum and pass threshold per your bye-laws
- Schedule open and close times (give at least 48–72 hours)
- Publish residents get in-app and email alerts when voting opens
- Monitor turnout on the admin poll page (works on secret polls too)
After close
- Review results (quorum met? pass/fail correct?)
- Export CSV for society records if on a paid plan
- Circulate results to all members (even non-voters)
