Society staff attendance: paper register vs Plinth
| Paper gate register | Excel / WhatsApp | Plinth | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roster | Separate list or none | Spreadsheet, often outdated | One roster at /admin/helpdesk/staff |
| Helpdesk link | Manual name matching | Copy-paste assignee names | Same staff in ticket Assign dropdown |
| Daily mark | Handwritten P/A | Photo of sheet in group | Present / absent / in / out on attendance board |
| Who can mark | Anyone at gate | Anyone with file access | Society admins only |
| Corrections | Cross-outs, illegible | Version chaos | Same-day update, audited |
| Audit trail | None | None | mark_staff_attendance → audit log |
| Roles | Free text | Inconsistent labels | facility_manager, guard, housekeeping, etc. |
| Face verification | MyGate SmartEye (auto mismatch) | Not included | Optional gate photo + passcode — no auto face-match |
| Committee review | Varies | Admin-only by default | Read-only Staff reports for committee |
Paper works for a handful of staff until the committee needs to answer "who was on duty when the lift failed?" or match attendance to helpdesk SLAs. Plinth keeps roster and attendance in the same society workspace as voting, notices, and billing — no separate attendance app.
