Admin: export society accounts to Tally

Export the Plinth society ledger as Tally-importable XML so your accountant imports a period without re-keying. You need admin access. The export covers receipts, payments, expenses, and issued invoices recorded in Plinth for the chosen dates.

Steps

  1. Open Admin → Finance & reports.
  2. Set the From and To dates for the period you want to hand over.
  3. Tap Export to Tally XML — the .xml file downloads to your device.
  4. Send the file to your accountant.
  5. In Tally, they use Import Data to load the masters and vouchers.

Each export is listed under Recent exports with its date range and voucher count, and is recorded in the society audit log.

What's in the file

  • Ledger masters — your chart of accounts with Tally parent groups.
  • Vouchers — one balanced voucher per money event: receipts, payments, sales (invoices), and journals (late fees, corrections).
  • Company name — your society name.

Troubleshooting

Export has zero vouchers — there are no ledger entries in that date range. Widen the dates or record billing/expense activity first.

Accountant sees accounts in the wrong group — each ledger carries a Tally parent group; ask your accountant to map any non-standard accounts on import. Tell us which accounts so we can refine the mapping.

Is this a live sync? — No. It's a one-direction export per period; re-export for a newer range.

FAQ

Which Tally versions does it target? Standard Tally XML import (masters + vouchers). Your accountant imports via Import Data.

Does it include GST? Yes — GST collected posts to a GST Payable ledger and is included.

Can residents export this? No. Finance & reports and Tally export are admin-only.
