Plinth Gate booth app
Plinth Gate is a dedicated guard app (life.plinth.gate) — separate from the resident Plinth app. It uses the same gate RPCs as Admin → Gate but is optimised for a booth tablet: large targets, camera QR scan, full-screen approval alerts, and offline entry/exit sync.
Admin setup (one time)
- Staff roster — Admin → Helpdesk → Staff: add guard with role
guardorsecurity_supervisor. - Link email — attach the guard's login email to the staff row.
- Booth PIN — assign or regenerate the 4-digit passcode (shown once on create).
- Society code — Admin → Settings → Plinth Gate app shows the 6-character code. Rotate if compromised.
Install on the booth tablet
- Android / iOS — install Plinth Gate from the Play Store or App Store (society-specific build).
- Web/PWA — open the gate URL your society was given; add to home screen for kiosk mode.
Guards sign in with society code + PIN — no personal password on the shared device. Optional device lock PIN locks the screen when the guard steps away.
Daily use
Same flows as Gate desk guide:
- Verify OTP or scan QR for pre-approved passes
- Walk-in — select flat, wait for resident approve/deny push
- Waiting tab — pending walk-ins
- Entry / exit — logs
gate_events; queues offline if network drops - Alerts — audio/haptic when a resident approves or denies
Languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi.
Admin web gate desk
Society admins and supervisors can still use Admin → Gate (/admin/gate) in the main Plinth app — same desk UI, plus staff attendance and export tools.
FAQ
Can guards use the resident Plinth app instead? Yes, if they have staff login — but Plinth Gate is recommended for shared tablets (booth PIN, device lock, guard-first layout).
Do residents need Plinth Gate? No — residents use the main Plinth app at /visitors.
Push for walk-ins? Residents get push on approve/deny requests; guards get push on Plinth Gate when a flat owner responds.
