FAQ: resident vault for housing societies

What is My vault on Plinth? Private and flat-scoped document storage for residents at /me/vault — separate from the committee Document Vault at /documents.

Who can upload? Residents with a claimed flat in the society.

What is the difference between Personal and Flat documents? Personal files are visible only to you and survive flat unclaim. Flat files are shared with flat-linked residents (and optionally admins) and are purged when the flat is unclaimed.

Can the committee see my personal files? No. Admins have no read access to personal vault files.

Can the committee see flat documents? Only if you choose Flat + committee visibility when uploading.

What file types and sizes are supported? PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, Word, Excel; max 25 MB per file.

How do downloads work? 120-second signed URLs to private storage — not permanent public links.

What are the storage limits? Starter: 10 personal / 5 flat active files with 50 MB / 25 MB caps. Community+: 50 active files and 250 MB per scope. Archived files count toward storage.

What happens when I sell my flat? Personal vault stays. All flat vault files for that flat are removed on unclaim. Official society Document Vault records are unaffected.

Can I delete a file permanently? Yes — Delete permanently removes the file and storage object.

Is this the same as poll credentials? No. Election credentials are poll-scoped, admin-reviewable, and auto-purged after retention. Vault files follow vault rules.

Which pricing tier includes resident vault? Included on Starter (limited quotas) and Community+ (full quotas). See pricing.
